This blog is about our progress, successes and struggles during our Tiny House build. I want to write about what the experience has really been like, what a Tiny House is, and why we chose to do it.
Not sure if I’ve gone over this already but Nick is 22 and I’m 20 and we don’t have it all figured out yet regarding careers, home placement etc. but clearly working on it. My family has just moved about 45 minutes away and we’ve been lucky enough to continue working on the house in Nicks family driveway. We are nowhere near close enough to live in the house yet, there is so much to do still including hookups, finishing electrical, sinks, fresh water plumbing and tanks, pumps, heat, vents, propane tanks, weight, insulation, pipes etc.. It can be challenging for me to map things out specifically in our Tiny House without a solid visualization of where they will go. Though we have a rough outline of where things will be, I’m concerned about making the kitchen look cohesive while trying to consider proportion, space and aesthetics. All the technical stuff left to do has been the most mentally challenging part so far for me. Building the walls and the structural stuff was more simple and self-explanatory. I am so excited that we chose to create something extraordinary, I believe that the most important step in this process is DECIDING to do something and going for it even if its scary. Making a conscious decision to go full force into something and continuing to persevere. As an indecisive person, this can be challenging. My mom has taught me many times over that not making a decision, IS a decision in itself.
