This blog is about our progress, successes and struggles during our Tiny House build. I want to write about what the experience has really been like, what a Tiny House is, and why we chose to do it.
Once we had made the decision to go forward with this Tiny House idea I posted a “wanted” add on my Yahoo group Freecycle. This group is really handy and you can score some pretty cool free stuff. This time we really lucked out and got a response that this old trailer/camper would be free to us if we came and got it out of their yard. Demo was mostly in the rain, and it was tough and gross. There were diapers to keep leaks from coming in and tons of huge spiders. At that point we were just hoping that the metal underneath was salvageable and somewhat sturdy to rebuild on. We were told this trailer was probably from the 70’s and that there was no vin number or license plate. At times it felt scary to have this huge trailer in the driveway, and to realize how much work we have cut out for us. With a little comforting from Nick and persistence we kept going and got to the floor and eventually to the rusty metal trailer.
